Welcome to the Peek-A-Who blog hop, hosted by Marian at Seams To Be Sew!
And we have great giveaways! See the rafflecopter at the end of the post to see what you need to do in order to enter, as well as a list of the shops participating.
Well, my birthday is October 30, the day before Halloween. Actually, I was born at midnight and the midwife asked my mother whether she wanted it midnight or 12:01 am and my mother said midnight. So, I am as close to a Halloween baby as a person can be without actually being one! You would think this would make me love Halloween, but I think it has done the opposite. But I do love autumn with the gorgeous leaves against the clear blue sky (yes there are a few glorious days like this in the fall in Minnesota), so I guess I wanted to focus on that.
Sooo... I made a really cute table topper from a pattern I got a year or so on a blog hop. It was very cute and it featured wool pumpkins on a pieced 36 patch of various orange squares.
Such a fun 36 patch! Modern fabrics made it more fun...
It is such fun to work with the wool and add a few little bits of embroidery to make it extra special. There is one thing I am disappointed about it though, I didn't think about the directional fabrics and I messed up the outside part of the block. But I still like the table topper even though it is a bit wonky.
And if you look carefully at the quilt on the quilt rack, you can see a nose of my dog Chloe peeking out. Perfect timing for the Peek A Who Blog Hop, I guess on this blog Chloe is the Peeker.
Please visit all the blogs in the hop and leave me a comment about your Halloween traditions. Always, Kay

The table topper is beautiful! I like that it would work for both Halloween and Thanksgiving. Our Halloween tradition was to make some kind of crazy costume each year for my son and sometimes for his friends who trick-or-treated with him. It was all about costumes that were unique. One year he was a hammer and his friend was a nail. Another year he was a toothbrush and had friends who were a tube of toothpaste and a tooth.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you love Halloween. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteBeautiful table topper! And I love seeing Chloe's adorable nose peeking out from underneath the rack.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Chloe is a fun one!
DeleteWhat a beautiful table topper! Thank you for sharing with us.

ReplyDeleteThanks Rosalind
DeleteI enjoyed trick-or-treating as a kid, and it was fun to take my own children out. They're grown now, but I still enjoy decorating the house for Halloween. I wouldn't say your topper is messed up! Most times when I make a mistake, no one knows unless I point it out.
ReplyDeleteThanks, and yes, I think I enjoyed Halloween more when my kids were little.
Deleteyour table topper is wonderful. i too love fall. but i do like fun and whimsy halloween quilting dash lady at comcast dot net

I have only worked with wool a few times. Your table topper seems like a good project to try.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that! I love adding wool into projects. There is just something that soothes the soul with the combination. Oh my I'm just a little jealous of your birthday. Halloween is my favorite time of the year and I would be having blowout parties to celebrate. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteGreat topper for the holidays! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't your topper be just too cute as a checkers game cloth? love it!
ReplyDeleteLove those wool appliques you have added. And Chloe looks so cute peeking out!
ReplyDeletewe get together with our good friends and make a fire in a fire pit and roast hot dogs and make s'mores and hand out candy to the kids.
ReplyDeleteHalloween is one of my favorite times of year and hanging out with family makes it even more fun. Your beautiful table topper makes a great accessory for decorating a room for the holiday!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute table topper. Directional fabrics mess me up too. Although, I didn't notice yours until you pointed it out.
ReplyDeleteAdorable table topper...I've never tried wool...maybe this time? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteLove your pumpkins and table topper. We’re pretty low key around here at Halloween. I have a couple yard and window decorations. My grandson has birthday on the 30th also.
ReplyDeleteI really don't have any Halloween traditions. I think the only thing that comes close is making a trick-or-treat bag for each of my new grands, as they come along.
ReplyDeleteLove your table topper! No halloween traditions here.
ReplyDeleteI really adore your wallhanging.

Great quilt and love your "peeker". Nancy A: rangerer@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteI love your table topper. It looks like it could be used as a checkerboard also.
ReplyDeleteCute tabletopper! Great for using the whole fall season. I don't have any Halloween traditions. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI don't really have any Halloween traditions now that my son is all grown up. Might hand out a little candy though. Love those wooly pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteOur traditions are put out the Halloween decorations and table runners, then hand put candy.

I don't think it matters about those directional fabrics. I do that so often, it looks normal to me. LOL Thanks for sharing something so pumpkin-y! I like the wool pumpkin additions. We used to have Halloween traditions, but my children are grown and I have no grandchildren, so I'd say my tradition now is eating candy corn until my doctor yells at me for the sugar highs. =)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing a lovely table topper
ReplyDeleteVery nice seasonal quilt ... good not only for Halloween but all of fall. My favorite Halloween tradition now that my children have grown is making my house warm and quilty with my fall and Halloween quilts. Thank you for sharing in the blog hop ... :-) Pat
ReplyDeleteI love your website. The patterns are great.
ReplyDeletewe don't get any trick or treaters, we usually watch a few fun, not too scary, halloween shows. my favorite is hocus pocus!! I love pumpkins, your topper is lovely.
ReplyDeleteCute table topper. Love the wool pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of the table topper, particularly the pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteThese days we live at the end of a long, dark driveway on a gravel road, so we don't get any trick or treaters. I miss seeing the kids in their cute costumes. When we lived in a neighborhood I loved it when the neighbors would bring their kids by for me to see them before they went out on Halloween--I could ooh and ahh over their costume choice and hand out extra candy to those sweet friends.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table topper! The colors are gorgeous. The wool pumpkins really make this quilt.
ReplyDeleteI usually make something with pumpkin to eat--Pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting are a favorite!

ReplyDeleteAs a kid, we always had hot dogs for supper and then went trick or treating.
ReplyDeleteLove fall - find sewing for Halloween fun - but pumpkins are dear to my heart

ReplyDeleteOur family likes to dress up and do a halloween bike ride.
ReplyDeleteAdorable table topper! Perfect for October and November...you are so clever! No more Halloween traditions since my grandchildren live way too far away from me and trick-or-treaters don't make it out to the farm!
ReplyDeleteLoooove your tabletopper!! Grrrreat for Fall! & love Chloe peeking out too! Adorable!! :D
ReplyDeleteI like that your table topper isn't "strictly" Halloween. Nice to have something like that to bridge the seasons! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Kay, Love the addition of the wool to your pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteTable topper is perfect fot all Fall!
ReplyDeleteYour table topper is great for fall! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI always took my kids trick or treating in are nieghber hood.... happyness04431@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried the woolies yet, but I am wanting too. Thank you for sharing the cute table topper.
ReplyDeleteI love your table topper. With no kids at home anymore, we sometimes go help with trunk or treat at church. I do love the fall decors.
ReplyDeleteGreat table topper.
ReplyDeleteCute project. I would love to have a party and dress up, but just usually end up giving out candy. We live across from a school, so lots of kids drop by when walking home.
ReplyDeleteI love your table topper! And I love Chloe peeking out from under it! Thanks!
ReplyDeletePutting out Halloween decorations.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so nice. Those little appliqued pumpkins are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteSweet topper! We have a chutes & ladders type of game with Halloween themes that was a fabric panel from back in the day. My adult daughter still has to play it every year!
ReplyDeleteI loved to make costumes for my children. Now I enjoy seeing the children that come to the door trick or treating.
ReplyDeleteCute table topper! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat little wool applique is cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the Halloween stuff!
ReplyDeleteI love the addition of the wool pumpkins to the table topper. I hadn't noticed the directional issue until you mentioned it. Think of it as an evil spell cast on it by a passing witch. You know a Halloween gift.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your table topper!!
ReplyDeleteGreat projects, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSweet table topper!
ReplyDeleteI love the pretty table topper.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Peggy

This is a great table topper for all of fall! It would also feel very appropriate on a Thanksgiving table.
ReplyDeleteI think your table topper is lovely. Looks to me in the top/first photo that the directional fabrics are just fine. The top half of the topper is horizontal and the bottom half is vertical. That still has order to it. Wonky is just another word for fun!
ReplyDeleteHalloween means taking the kids to Grandmas neighborhood for trick or treating and good food afterwards. Your table topper is beautiful .

ReplyDeleteAwww, I think I'd have loved being a Halloween baby, but my birthday is exactly 30 days from yours, being on the last day of November. As a child I disliked it because many my presents ended up being a combo of Christmas/birthday gifts. That never happened to my sister. Either or I like your table mat, its a lovely rendition of Fall and I love the silhouettes in each of the blocks. Thanks so much for participating today and my sincerest apologies for not getting around to the blogs sooner this week. It's really been I think my busiest week of the year thus far.
Your table topper looks great! I like mixing wool applique and cotton. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful table topper!
ReplyDeleteGreat fall/Halloween table topper! Happy Birthday!

Oooh, adding that bit of wool for the pumpkins really is special! I will remember that tip for sure. Whenever something I make turns out wonky (happens more often than I'd like), I think of the Amish makers who always purposely add something wonky to show they are not perfect....just my style!
